Eric Ewald begins his twentieth year coaching in the Railer basketball program and his eighteenth year as head varsity assistant. Back in 2000, Eric took over this position after stringing together two impressive seasons as head freshmen coach and compiling a 36-8 record. Coach Ewald is the only assistant coach in the school’s history to be a part of four Elite Eight State Tournament teams. His head assistant position carries with it the responsibility of working with Coach Alexander on a daily basis to develop and prepare players to compete at the highest level. Coach Ewald has played an instrumental role in developing the program’s zone offensive schemes as well as its four-out and five-out dribble-drive motion offense. Eric is an English teacher and the English Department Liaison here at LCHS. He and his wife Heather have two children: Madi, a swimmer and psychology major at the University of Nebraska Omaha, and Will, a sophomore here at LCHS.
